Visit Anne’s Green Gables House
A full day of family activities awaits at the Anne of Green Gables House, a Canadian Historic Site. Before it was a Canadian icon, the Green Gables House operated as a farm. Now, exploring the grounds and buildings provide an escape into the early last century, reviving the farming lifestyle in PEI and Montgomery’s world of Anne. Head for a gentle stroll through the woods and down Lover's Lane, taking a camera to capture the island's quiet, scenic beauty.
The Green Gables House sits in the western end of Prince Edward Island National Park, where clean ocean waters and the red sands of Cavendish Beach welcome visitors year-round.
Anne of Green Gables Musicals
A favorite for more than 45 years, the annual production of Anne of Green Gables – The Musical runs at the Homburg Theatre in the Confederation Centre of the Arts each summer. This musical is to PEI what the Nutcracker is to Christmas – a staple of the season that audiences return to for decades. The show is part of the lively, arts-filled Charlottetown Festival.
In nearby Summerside, Anne & Gilbert continues the story of Anne of Green Gables at the Jubilee Theatre.
Lucy Maud Montgomery Museums
L.M. Montgomery lived and taught in many PEI villages. From New London where she was born, to her grandparents home in Cavendish, her first school in Bideford, and beyond, there are dozens of sites in Prince Edward Island that connect to the beloved writer. Other Anne of Green Gables Activities
Although a bit of a stretch as an Anne-themed activity, a round of golf on the Green Gables Golf Course merges the spirit of Anne's island with one of PEI's favorite activities: golf. The course originally opened in 1939 as the work of Stanley Thompson, but was recently redesigned by Thomas McBroom. Framed views set this course apart as a special place to tee off. The course is located in Prince Edward Island National Park where other popular attractions include the dunes of Cavendish Beach and the Green Gables House.
