While Prince Edward Island golf courses number more than two dozen in all, there are a few emerald gems that shine greater than others. These select four PEI golf courses cover the main geographical regions of the province and will tie in well with visits to the capital city of Charlottetown, a tour of the Anne of Green Gables house, a sunny day spent on the red-sand shores of Cavendish Beach, or a trip on the ferry from the mainland. These listed Prince Edward Island golf courses have been acclaimed by Golf Digest or the Globe and Mail (not to mention accolades from various other golf publications) as the province’s premier places to tee off. Eastern PEI Golf CoursesThe Links at Crowbush Cove: This golf course is perched with views of sand dunes and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. While the course will challenge avid golfers, the nearby beach and full resort will provide plenty of downtime activities. Golfing at Crowbush will deliver one of the highest rated rounds of golf that any golfer will experience on PEI. To reach The Links at Crowbush Cove, drive 30 minutes northeast of Charlottetown. Prince Edward Island Golf Courses on the North ShoreEagles Glenn: This 300-acre course actually has 27 holes—18 with a par 72 and a 9-hole, par-27 course. The golf course, which is located close to Cavendish, offers convenient online booking for tee times up to a year in advance. Driving from Cavendish, the Eagles Glenn course is just a four-minute journey, while those traveling from Charlottetown need travel only 45 minutes. Golf Courses near Charlottetown, PEIFox Meadow Golf and Country Club: With southern views over the Northumberland Strait, Fox Meadow offers a good starting point if arriving in PEI by ferry. The golf course is located along a 40-minute coastal drive from the ferry terminal and less than 10 minutes from Charlottetown. Plus there’s a 22-station driving range for practice and warm-up. Western Prince Edward Island Golf CoursesMill River Golf Course: This par-72 golf course sits alongside the Mill River amidst mature forest. As part of Rodd Mill River Resort, there are ample amenities as well as some of PEI’s lowest green fees. Yet despite the lower price, this golf course lies a convenient and scenic one-hour drive from Summerside and 1.5 hours from the Confederation Bridge. Planning a Prince Edward Island Golf VacationGolf PEI offers links to online course bookings as well as overviews of the many other PEI golf courses, including the Green Gables Course in Prince Edward Island National Park. Expect green fees that peg remarkably low on the pricing scale as compared with other regions in the world as well as friendly locals and amazing views. Look for golf packages that combine rounds of golf with local accommodation. Courses are generally open in early May. While the best months for golfing are in the summer, September especially is an undiscovered time of year in the Atlantic provinces.
